Open access archive builds important connections with northern community

Two York University professors brought a digital open-access archive of internationally acclaimed scientific research back to a northern community this past fall. During their visit, Faculty of Education Professor Steve Alsop and Faculty of Science Professor Dawn Bazely scheduled a series of public and targeted talks and presentations and meetings with the community to introduce the archive. Their audiences included students in Grades 5 to 9 at the local Duke of Marlborough School.

SSHRC Partnership Grant, just under $2.5 M, awarded to AMPD Professor Laura Levin

Professor Laura Levin, in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD), was awarded a Partnership Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) in May 2020, as principal investigator for the project “Hemispheric Encounters: Developing Transborder Research-Creation Practices.”

Webinar features York VP Sheila Cote-Meek discussing importance of women in the Academy

A new book focused on the importance of women in the Academy will be virtually launched on Thursday, May 28 with a free webinar. The book, “Critical Reflections and Politics on Advancing Women in the Academy” (ICI Global 2020) was co-edited by Laurentian University Professor Taima Moeke-Pickering, York University Vice-President of Equity, People and Culture Sheila Cote-Meek and Laurentian University Professor Ann Pegoraro.

Undergraduate students embark on a summer of research adventures at Lassonde

Despite the ongoing pandemic and the resulting restrictions to school and research facilities, the Lassonde School of Engineering will welcome 57 undergraduate student researchers to its virtual campus for the 6th annual Lassonde Undergraduate Research Awards and Undergraduate Student Research Awards programs.
