Vision researchers from around the world visited York University June 10 to 13 for the Centre for Vision Research and Vision: Science to Applications International Conference on Predictive Vision and shared interdisciplinary research from behavioural, computational and neuroscience perspectives.
Following an extensive national and international search that attracted outstanding candidates, the Search Committee recommended the appointment of Dr. Rui Wang to the position. He will take up a five-year term appointment, commencing Jan. 1, 2020.

In addition to events around the Greater Toronto Area, the Centre for Aboriginal Student Services (CASS) at York University will be hosting an information table in the Vari Hall Rotunda. CASS will be in the rotunda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Paul Gross, an eminent Canadian actor, writer, director, producer, musician and arts supporter, received an honorary doctor of laws from York University on June 17. In his convocation address, Gross spoke about the journeys he has taken and the lessons learned.
From May 3 to 5, a workshop funded by Global Affairs Canada was organized at York University to bring together authors who will contribute to an edited volume tentatively titled “Borderless university education in Dadaab, Kenya: Theory and Practice.”

The York University School of Continuing Studies (SCS) celebrated the success of its graduates as part of spring convocation events. The milestone represents a first for the growing school. This year, more than 1,200 students from 14 programs earned their SCS certificates.
