York University has put together a number of events to mark Campus Sustainability Month. The activities will take place in the Red Zone in Vari Hall on Oct. 11 and 18, from 10am to 2pm each day.

Four individuals and one group were honoured for their work in sustainability and were named the 2016 recipients of the President’s Sustainability Leadership Awards on Earth Day, Friday, April 22. The winners are Nicole Arsenault, Jose Etcheverry, the Finance Department, Mark Terry and John Wilson.

Two more York University facilities have earned a Silver LEED certification — York Lions Stadium and the Ignat Kaneff Building. The announcement came during the University’s Earth Day events, April 22.

The York University Task Force on Sustainability Research has released its final report, which highlights the task force’s recommendations for the continued support, cultivation, integration and dissemination of York University’s sustainability research.

The annual York University Sustainability Fair takes place this Friday, March 18 from 10am to 4pm. The first portion of the day features tabling from sustainability clubs and organizations along with the Seeds of Hope poster exhibit The second portion of day takes place in the Senate chamber with a Q&A session with the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario Dianne Saxe.

The nomination period for the President’s Sustainability Leadership Awards is now open. The awards recognize students, faculty and staff who are contributing to making York University a leader in sustainability among postsecondary institutions. The nomination deadline has been extended from Feb. 29 to March 4.
