York English Professor Julia Creet presents a screening of her film MUM, Feb. 1

Julia Creet

Filmmaker and York English Professor Julia Creet presents a screening of her film MUM on Feb. 1 at 12:30pm in the Nat Taylor Cinema, N102 Ross Building, Keele Campus.

MUM is a documentary charting Creet’s private journey into her family history. Following a paper trail of memoirs, letters, and poems, Crett goes to Szkésféhevár, a small town in Hungary, and journeys toward a discovery of her mother’s secret past.

Often revealing and occasionally nostalgic, this examination into the nature of family exploration is not to be missed. In 2008, MUM received accolades at both the Toronto Jewish Film Festival and the Jewish Eye – World Jewish Film Festival.

Following the screening of MUM, Creet will engage in a discussion with audience members about the themes presented in the documentary.

This event is free and all are welcome. It is presented by the Cinema & Media Arts Program in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design at York University.
