Arts and literature journal seeks contributions

York University’s Existere – Journal of Arts and Literature is seeking submissions for its fall 2008/winter 2009 issue.

Existere publishes work by local talent as well as by writers and artists throughout Canada and from abroad. The magazine consists of poetry, short stories, non-fiction articles, book reviews, essays, criticism, interviews, art and photography.

Past contributors have included recent Man Booker longlisted novelist and literary journal publisher Michael Redhill, Governor General’s Award nominated poet Barry Dempster and 2007 Griffin Poetry Prize nominee and York Professor Priscila Uppal.

The deadline for submissions is July 1, in order to publish in time for Words Alive Literary Festival on Sept. 21 at the Sharon Temple national historic site and museum in Sharon, Ont. Submission guidelines and more information can be found on the Existere Web site.

Existere was founded in 1979 and is funded by the Vanier College Council. The spring/summer 2008 issue is currently available at bookstores or by subscription and will be available at the Toronto Small Press Book Fair on June 7, in downtown Toronto.
