Faculty members, instructors, staff and student leaders from across York University joined together April 25 for the University’s inaugural Forum on Student Success: Making the Case for an Integrated Approach. Together, they explored collaborative methods and practices for maximizing curricular and co-curricular student learning through high-impact strategies and student-centred approaches.
Founders College hosted its first annual student conference “Speaking Diasporas: Interrogating Intergenerational Diasporas” on April 23, with the goal of building ongoing conversational dialogues within and across generations of those conceiving themselves as belonging to diasporas.
Practical skills required in a variety of disciplines are enhanced through the new Smartphone Accommodation Resource Toolbox (SmART), a platform that allows York students to hone their skills in a simulated workplace or clinical environment. SmART was developed with funding from the Academic Innovation Fund.
The “Forum on Student Success: Making the Case for an Integrated Approach” on April 25 at York University will explore insights, tools and best practices for the provision and delivery of student programs, courses, services and supports. The forum is free and open to full- and part-time faculty, staff and student leaders. Registration closes (today) April 17.
The three-credit course developed through the Academic Innovation Fund employs experiential seminars to teach students fundamental and advanced skills for learning, both in the university setting and in their later lives.
Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies Professors John Paul Grayson and Robert Kenedy applied for and received a grant from the Academic Innovation Fund to develop an online course for students in sociology that gives them the critical skills needed for academic and career success.
The Student Financial Support Peer team consists of six student leaders who are committed to fostering mental well-being on campus by helping their fellow students understand and manage the complexities around their finances and relieve anxiety associated with it.
