Five York University faculty members have been named the recipients of the Minister of Colleges and Universities’ Awards of Excellence for their commitment to guiding the province of Ontario through the pandemic. Honoured by the province are Professors Henriette Gezundhajt, Dasantila Golemi-Kotra, Steven Hoffman, Murat Kristal and Jianhong Wu.

“Creating Positive Change: 2020 President’s Report” looks back at the 2019-20 academic year and tells the story of the community’s inspirational response to the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The report documents York’s efforts to protect the health and safety of its community and the communities it serves, while continuing to pursue excellence in all endeavours.

The York University program will take place Thursday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will feature two of this year’s Gairdner Laureates: Rolf Kemler, Canada Gairdner International Laureate, and Quarraisha Abdool Karim, the John Dirks Canada Gairdner Global Health Laureate. All are welcome, registration is required.
