York University faculty and students are invited to join vision researchers from around the world June 6 to 9 for the Vision Science: From Picture to Reality, From Observer to Agent conference.

Hosted by York University’s Centre for Vision Research (CVR) and Vision: Science to Applications (VISTA), the conference will take place in person at the Second Student Centre at York University’s Keele Campus.

The events aims to connect the long history of picture perception with new display technologies that blur the differences between pictorial representations and the reality of the world that they attempt to depict.

The 2022 CVR/VISTA conference program will be complemented by lab visits, poster sessions, industry exhibitions and presentations, and a banquet in honour of outgoing CVR director Laurence Harris.

The talks, presented by world renowned researchers, will highlight interdisciplinary research on human and machine vision. Specifically, sessions will focus on: the evolution and development of picture perception; display systems: from drawings to holograms to VR; space perception; and multi-sensory perception.
