York University is committed to achieving renewed negotiated collective agreements with CUPE 3903 (Units 1, 2, and 3), the union representing York’s teaching assistants, contract faculty and graduate assistants. The parties have now met seven times since bargaining began. The University remains focused on achieving extension agreements that will provide certainty and stability to the York community during these extremely challenging times. We remain hopeful that our shared priorities will allow us to successfully achieve this goal.

On Dec. 22, the parties met for the last time in 2020. A range of topics were discussed, including the intersection of equity and seniority provisions, as well as continued discussion on questions the University had raised with the Union at the previous meeting.

We look forward to scheduling more bargaining dates, in January, so we can continue to move forward with our negotiations in the new year.

The University will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 24, with operations resuming on Jan. 7, 2021. On behalf of the University’s bargaining team, we would like to wish everyone a very safe, restful and healthy holiday.
