More than 70 Grade 9 students accompanied their parents, guardians and relatives to work on Wednesday, Nov. 1 when York University participated in the annual Take Our Kids to Work program.
Students were given the opportunity to observe the activities of their adult chaperones at work. The program was open to faculty members as well as staff. Some York University employees brought in Grade 9 companions who were neighbours and family friends.
The program was initiated by the Learning Partnership program in 1994.
In addition to Grade 9 students shadowing adults at work, the University offered activities including a campus tour and a complementary lunch.
The event was held with the support of volunteers from TUUS, Risk Management, Human Resources and Recruitment/Admissions. Lunch was provided by Aramark.
