Real-world business research on 38 issues ranging from “Angel investors around the world” to “Mining on First Nations Territory” will be showcased at the third Schulich Research Day taking place on Thursday, Jan. 26 at York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Researchers will be presenting 38 investigative studies at Schulich. The research work conducted by Schulich’s faculty has been recognized externally through numerous awards, editorial review board appointments and research grants. In 2015, Schulich faculty members were awarded $3 million in research funding. The school is home to 28 funded research chairs and professorships and Schulich’s Centres of Excellence are a vital source of cutting-edge research.

The poster gallery viewing, where researchers will be available to answer questions about their work will be held in the CIBC Marketplace at Schulich from 12:30-2pm on Jan. 26.

A panel discussion on “The Impact of Research in the Schulich School of Business: Making a Difference in the Real World?” will follow opening remarks by Dezsö J. Horváth, dean and Tanna H. Schulich Chair in Strategic Management, at 2:15pm in the Robert R. McEwen Auditorium, Seymour Schulich Building, Keele campus. Moderator Matthias Kipping, professor of policy and the Richard E. Waugh Chair in Business History, will lead the discussion with Detlev Zwick, associate professor of marketing and director of the BBA/iBBA Program; Marcia Annisette, associate professor of marketing and executive director of student services and international relations; Mary Waller, professor of organization studies and director of Schulich Centre for Teaching Excellence; and Moren Lévesque, professor of operations management and information systems and the CPA Ontario Chair in International Entrepreneurship.

The Dean’s Research Impact Awards, which include a $5,000 prize, will be presented at 3:30 p.m. The Lifetime Achievement Award will recognize a researcher’s achievement of true distinction in his or her research field, integrity and ability to inspire alumni, faculty, staff, students, and the research community. The Emerging Leader Award will recognize a researcher’s remarkable professional and research accomplishments and demonstrated a commitment to fostering relationships, research community-building and advancing Schulich’s international reputation for research excellence.

Closing remarks at 3:50pm will be delivered by Dirk Matten, associate dean, research and the Hewlett-Packard Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility. The remarks will be followed by a reception in the Schulich Executive Dining Room.
