Presidential Search Committee chair offers an update to the University community

Rick Waugh, chair of the Presidential Search Committee, sends the following message to the University community:

The Presidential Search Committee has reviewed a number of candidate backgrounds and has had discussions with a number of candidates.

York has a comprehensive search process that is clearly defined in both Board and Senate documents. The hiring process is being led by a 14-member committee, guided by the Principles Governing the Search Committee.

Prior to the committee beginning its assessment work, a detailed presidential position profile was constructed based on extensive community consultation and written input from York’s Senate. All potential candidates are being assessed and interviewed against this detailed position profile.

The committee has both the mandate and support of the Board to find a new president and will continue to undertake this responsibility. The committee is continuing to deliberate and consider several candidates. The committee is comprised of representatives of the Board and Senate, broadly representative of the University’s constituents (faculty, staff, students, governors and alumni) and is independent of the University administration. It is tasked with making a recommendation to the Board of Governors and its members have all signed a Confidentiality Undertaking, which protects the confidentiality of the process.

Additional updates will be posted to this site once they become available.

As the search continues I remain committed to ensuring the process remains on track and successful.

Sincerely,

Rick Waugh
Presidential Search Committee Chair
