Moving from the Twitterverse to a real-life meetup, some 50 members of the York community got together offline for the third #YUTweetup held at the University.

The social event on Sept. 29 was held at the Glendon campus as part of the University’s Red & White Day. It had an added dimension because this year marks Glendon’s 50th anniversary.

Held in Glendon’s Centre of Excellence, the Tweetup was co-hosted by York President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri and Glendon Principal Donald Ipperciel.

“It was wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate Red & White Day with the community at our beautiful Glendon campus,” said Shoukri. “I often say that Glendon is one of the jewels in York’s crown, and each time I visit I am reminded why.”

The #YUTweetup offered a chance for the president and principal to meet with faculty, staff and students. It also brought together colleagues from both campuses who frequently collaborate on events and University initiatives but don’t always have a chance to get together in person. The event also served as a mini-reunion for Glendon alumni who now work at the Keele campus, as they had the opportunity to visit with former classmates and co-workers.
