Are you a student who speaks Portuguese?

The Portuguese and Luso-Brazilian (PORL) Studies program is seeking students who speak Portuguese to volunteer and assist in Portuguese language courses at York’s Keele campus.

Volunteers will attend class (through an agenda set by students and Professor Inês Cardoso), and may be called on to provide additional vocabulary, and motivation and language clues, to enhance classroom discussions in the following courses: POR 1000 – Elementary Portuguese: Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:30am to 12:30pm; POR 2000 – Intermediate Portuguese: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 to 2:30pm; and POR 3000 – Advanced Portuguese: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30 to 4:30pm.

portuguese speaking studentsStudent volunteers must be fluent in Portuguese, and are expected to conduct themselves and speak only in Portuguese in the classroom. Volunteers will support the instructor by leading and encouraging the activities in the target language; however class content preparation is the the full responsibility of the professor.

There is no previous homework and/or research required. Any student attending York University is eligible for this position, and is eligible for the student co-curricular record.

This opportunity will be for the entire academic year (from September 2016 to April 2017). Individual arrangements will be scheduled with the course instructor.
