A grant of close to $100,000 from the Law Foundation of Ontario will fund the creation of a new legal clinic spearheaded by Osgoode Hall Law School Professor Poonam Puri in partnership with FAIR Canada.

The Investor Protection Clinic and Lab project will receive $98,959 to fund Canada’s first clinic designed to offer individual investors free assistance if they have encountered a loss due to fraud.

According to the Law Foundation of Ontario, the clinic will be staffed by law students under the supervision of Puri.

The project is one of eight new Access to Justice Fund grants provided to projects that will protect investors and investor rights.

The Law Foundation of Ontario’s Access to Justice Fund (ATJF) is a permanent fund that provides grants to projects that improve access to justice across the country.
