Long-serving faculty honoured for dedicated service

Long-serving faculty reception

They’ve spent decades mentoring students, teaching and researching at York University, and on Feb. 10 long-serving faculty were honoured at a reception to mark their dedicated service.

The event, held in the Dining Room of the Executive Learning Centre in the Schulich building, brought together faculty who have served the University for 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years as of 2015.

York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri opened the reception, congratulating the faculty for their milestones and thanking them for their contributions.

“York University has been a leader in so many areas and this is in large part due to the great work you’ve done over so many years,” he said. “In appreciation of your service, your achievements and your tremendous commitment to York University, on behalf of the entire York community, I want to thank you.”

Eligibility for the honour requires a faculty member to have been active at some point during the year of recognition, and includes those who retired during the year of recognition.
