Students living in York University’s Pond Road Residence will make a trip to downtown Toronto on Dec. 5 as part of an effort to spread warmth to the city’s needy.

The students will distribute “Keep Toronto Warm” packages that include items such as blankets, socks, sweaters and a $5 hot beverage gift card.

“We’ve collected winter woolies etc. and many have also donated money to buy these items,” says Stephanie Francis, a residence life coordinator in the Centre for Student Community and Leadership Development within the Division of Students. “We will offer a package to anyone who is in need.”

It costs $20 to put together a package, according to organizers, and those interested in contributing to the cause can make donations directly online or by visiting keeptorontowarm.com.
