March Break Science Explorations camps now accepting registrations

campers involved in science explorations summer camps

Offered through the Science Engagement Office at York University, March Break Science Camp: Medicine and Engineering, returns for another great year with new experiments and workshops. Using an interactive, hands-on approach to learning, students in Grades 3 to 8 explore exciting topics in medicine and engineering.  Each day participants will be immersed in a variety of exciting and unique activities and experiments exploring elements of medicine and engineering. As part of the camp, there’s a week-long project that sees campers building catapults, constructing models of prosthetic limbs, investigating the development of drugs and medicine, and discovering connections between medicine and engineering.

Junior Medicine and Engineering (Grade 3/4)

In this hands-on and interactive camp, participants construct catapults, build models of prosthetic limbs, and learn how medicine is used inside the human body. Using special microscopes, junior participants explore different types of animals and plants.

Intermediate Medicine and Engineering (Grade 5/6)

Campers in Intermediate Medicine and Engineering learn to solve scientific mysteries in a mock crime scenes, how to construct model rockets, and discover the physics behind rollercoasters.

Senior Medicine and Engineering (Grade 7/8)

New technological marvels are discovered every day. Campers in Senior Medicine and Engineering construct solar-powered photovoltaic cars and explore the engineering principles behind the powerful trebuchet.

Early registration fee for the week is $250 (available until March 1). The fee increases to $275 after March 1.

The Science Engagement Office also offers SciX: Science Explorations throughout July and August. This camp provides the opportunity to learn how to apply different elements of science and engineering to solve real-life problems.
