Adults with high functioning ASD sought for research study

York researchers are looking for adults with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders to participate in a study looking at factors contributing to experiences of interpersonal violence (e.g. child maltreatment, physical violence, etc).

The participants should:

  • be 18 years of age or older
  • have a previous diagnosis of an ASD (Autism, Asperger syndrome, or PDD-NOS)

Participants will complete questionnaires about their experiences and answer a few questions about safety. The researcher will meet with participants for approximately one and a half to two hours. Participants will be provided with a $50 gift card.

Participants can be a part of the study even if they have not experienced violence.

We hope that the results of this study will provide us with an understanding of the factors that may be contributing to interpersonal violence experiences for adults with ASD and may also have important implications in the development of safety training and curriculum development.

To participate, contact Carly Albaum at 416 -736-2100 ext. 22987 or e-mail the primary investigator, Michelle Viecili at mviecili@yorku.ca.
