Watch for your York Cares e-mail that will contain a link to the United Way electronic pledge form. Everyone who completes the form pledging a minimum of $1/week or $52/year will be 
entered into a draw for a chance to win prizes.
There will be several draws throughout the campaign, but the first will take place Friday, Nov. 15. Make a donation by 4pm that day for a chance to win a bag full of York swag, including a sweatshirt, T-shirt and ball cap.
Some of the prizes up for grabs
Some of the other prizes up for grabs throughout the campaign will include an iPad mini with a black leather case, a York U golf bag, three Las Nubes: Conservation in the Cloud Forests of Costa Rica books and York knit scarves.
The goal this year is to boost York’s participation to 13 per cent from 11 per cent last year. To achieve that goal, 564 faculty and staff will need to contribute to the York Cares United Way Campaign.

Seventy dollars can provide one homeless man with three employment counselling sessions; $100 can provide a young child with a year of one-to-one mentorship, providing an opportunity for friendship and social skills development; and $165 can provide one night at a shelter, including meals and counselling, for a woman or child who is a victim of domestic violence.
