The Friends of Glendon penny drive, which started in September, has been a cents-ible success, raising far more than its initial goal.

The funds raised will go toward helping Glendon students. The goal was to collect 100,000 pennies for $1,000 in student bursaries, but to date, $1,516.22 in pennies has been raised Some of the bags full of pennies donated by the Glendon communitythanks to faculty, staff and students, as well as the Living and Learning in Retirement community members.

The penny drive began with a few boxes and vases at the Office of the Principal, the Recruitment office, Academic Services, Extended Learning, Frost Library and Financial Services. These offices challenged one another to see who could gather the most pennies.

Encouraged by the participation in the drive, the Friends of Glendon will continue to collect pennies until the end of January. Anyone wishing to be part of the drive and contribute can drop their pennies at one of the aforementioned offices or join the challenge at their own office.
