United Way early bird catches an iPad Mini

The early bird gets the worm or so goes the saying, but for Ping Peng, HR business partner with York’s Human Resources Services in Campus Services & Business Operations, entering her York Cares United Way Pledge early resulted in her winning something much better – an iPad Mini.

The second prize of a book – Las Nubes: Conservation in the Cloud Forests of Costa Rica, was won by Glendon economics Professor Can Erutku, while the third prize of Can Erutkua $25 Starbucks gift card went to Professor Lauren Sergio of the School of Kinesiology & Health Science in the Faculty of Health.

There are still loads of prizes to be won though. The mid-campaign participation draw is coming up soon – Tuesday, Nov. 20. To be eligible, community members who have not yet donated should submit their pledge form by 4pm on Monday, Nov. 19 with a pledge of $1/week or $52/year. Mid-Lauren Sergiocampaign prizes to be won are: an iPod Nano, donated by Data Integrity; a copy of Cloud Forests of Costa Rica, donated by the York University Bookstore; and Lunch for 2 at the Schulich Executive Dining Room donated by the Schulich Executive Learning Centre.

The York Cares United Way Campaign is off to a great start. It is already at a participation rate of six per cent and has raised more than $115,000.
