It’s not too late to join training for charitable run

Training for the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge

Every second Tuesday and Thursday, York University faculty, students and staff lace up in preparation for the 2012 Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge, as part of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, the York University team willrun, walk or wheel in the 5k event, marathon or half-marathon to support York students in financial need who access counselling and disability services for support.

Training for the Scotiabank Group Charity ChallengeThe next training sessions take place Tuesday, June 26 at noon at the main entrance of W128 Bennett, or Thursday, June 28 at 5:15pm at the south entrance of Tait McKenzie.

Training for the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge

Join the York University team to take advantage of free group training and clinics throughout the summer. This is a great way to meet people on campus while supporting a good cause.  The team goal is to raise $10,000 towards a bursary for students registered in York University’s Counselling & Disability Services.

To register, visit the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon website, indicate that you are a “Charity Challenge Runner” and select York University. Once registered, you can set up your own online fundraising page. Team members must raise a minimum of $25, and will be eligible to win prizes including free registration. A generous cash prize will be given to the charity with the biggest team, so join today and bring your friends!

York University is an official charity of the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge and has been a participant in the event for the last three years, raising more than $20,000 dollars to support students accessing York University’s Counselling & Disability Services.
