Patrick Monahan, York’s vice-president academic & provost, has issued this message to members of the York community:

As I announced last week, our colleague, Professor Lorna Wright, will be completing her term as associate vice-president international on June 30.  Professor Wright has served with distinction in this portfolio for the past three years, and has led in the advancement of strategic plans for internationalization at York. I am very grateful to her for the energy, commitment and leadership she has brought to this portfolio and look forward to working with her over the remaining five months of her term.

I am announcing the launch of a search process, internal to York, to identify Professor Wright’s successor. Please review the AVP International position description associated with the portfolio, as well as the York International website which provides further detailed information on current projects and initiatives. Given the importance attached to internationalization and fostering of global engagement in both the White Paper and the University Academic Plan, the AVP International will continue to be a key member of our leadership team and play a critical role in advancing our strategic academic priorities. The appointment will be for a three-year term, commencing July 1, 2012, and carries a full teaching release.

I would welcome nominations, expressions of interest, and queries, as well as applications for the position of associate vice-president international. Please note that the deadline for applications is Feb. 24 and the selection committee within my office will begin consideration of potential candidates shortly after that date. Applicants should attach an up-to-date curriculum vitae, along with a separate letter highlighting any relevant background and experience, and describing the nature of your interest in the position.

Applications should be submitted electronically to Marla Chodak at mchodak@yorku.ca.
