Fourth project director seconded for Phase 2

Patrick Monahan, vice-president academic & provost, and Gary Brewer, vice-president finance & administration, have issued this message to the York community:

Further to our recent communication announcing three PRASE project directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph da Silva as the PRASE project director for the information technology stream. He will join Sarah Cantrell (accountability and budget planning), Renata Faverin (HR/finance/procurement) and Janet Morrison (student services) to provide leadership for Phase 2 of the PRASE (Process Re-engineering & Service Enhancement) project.

As noted before, these project directors are senior administrators who have significant experience at York, have demonstrated leadership in their various positions and will be seconded from their current roles to work with us in the development of detailed work plans for each of the work streams within Phase 2.

Joseph da Silva has 20 years IT experience in various sectors, including 14 years experience at York University. He has been a director of IT Services since 1997, first at Atkinson, then in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS). He has been a lead for integrating IT services for LA&PS, has served as IT liaison during the creation of the Faculty of Health and was responsible for implementing the technology-enhanced learning review recommendations at Atkinson.

We were pleased with the high level of interest for the IT stream from a significant number of highly qualified candidates. We are gratified by the level of interest in the community in the project director role and, once again, want to thank all those who applied.

As we embark on Phase 2 of PRASE, we look forward to working closely with Sarah, Renata, Janet and Joseph and also encourage the continued engagement of members of the York community to ensure that community views and perspectives shape the evolution and development of this important project.
