Ian Macdonald Boulevard closure starts Monday

Starting Monday, July 18, Ian Macdonald Boulevard will be closed to general traffic from Vanier Lane to Fine Arts Boulevard. York Boulevard will also be closed to general traffic west of James Gillies Street in both directions for long term subway construction.

A new diversion road has been built through York Boulevard parking lot, connecting Ian Macdonald Boulevard at Vanier Lane with York Boulevard at the signalized intersection of the TTC busway. This road closure and the new Commons detour (blue line on map below) will remain in effect until 2014.

Impact on buses in the Commons

Current bus services to the Commons will continue. However, some stops may be relocated. Watch for bus stop relocation signs for affected bus stops in the Commons.

Traffic impact and pedestrian safety

Watch for traffic and detour signs to help you navigate through the area during this long-term construction. Pedestrians are reminded to be alert and use designated crosswalks and pathways.

Avoid York Boulevard – use alternates

During this long-term subway construction, motorists should use alternate roads to access the campus. From the north side of campus, use Founders Road or Murray Ross Parkway. From the east, use Chimneystack Road or Pond Road. From the west side, use Shoreham Drive and from the south use Sentinel Road.
