A beautiful day to discover York University

The day was clear and sunny for the more than 4,700 excited future students, their families and friends who visited York’s Keele campus for the annual Spring Gala on Saturday, April 2.

The agenda was full of faculty offerings such as mock lectures, program overviews, chances to meet professors and program-specific tours as well as financial planning sessions, an international exchange/internship workshop, and the opportunity to think future-forward with graduate studies and career services. To top off the day, student ambassadors and staff served birthday cupcakes.

The Spring Gala provides future students, many of whom have been extended offers of admission, with an opportunity to explore their program of choice in more detail. Visitors also had a chance to tour York’s facilities, residences and learn about the many support services offered to students.

Future students had the chance to spend some quality “face time” with current students, staff and professors and receive detailed answers to their questions. Some 300 student volunteers throughout the day and helped make the event a success.

This year, the Spring Gala featured:

  • on-the-spot admission for qualified students and one-on-one time with admission experts;
  • admission sessions for college/university transfer, mature and international applicants;
  • the RED Zone experience in its permanent summer location, offering activities for future students and information about how to get involved on campus;
  • York’s 10 Faculties showcasing their programs and thriving communities;
  • an expanded Services Information Fair and greater college presence in the faculty zones;
  • campus bus tours, athletic facility tours, and campus and residence walking tours.
