Executive director named in University Relations

Susan Webb has been appointed to the position of executive director communications & public affairs in the University Relations Division, effective Jan. 17.

Reporting to Vice-President University Relations Jennifer Sloan, Webb will provide a high level of strategic communications expertise to key University initiatives, strengthen and enhance communications Susan Webbcapacities, and work collaboratively with other senior leaders to assist York in achieving its strategic direction.

Webb brings to the team a strong background in communications and public affairs in both the private and public sectors.

She joins York University after four years at TD Bank Group, where she served in progressive senior communications roles. Most recently, Webb held the position of senior manager of Global Brand & Corporate Marketing and was responsible for developing the global brand governance framework and working with the bank’s global brand team and senior business leaders to develop and implement the new TD brand strategy. Prior to that, she was the senior manager, Corporate Communications, supporting the CEO & president, Global Wealth Management, and key senior executives in town halls, speeches, media relations and other strategic communication initiatives. 

Webb also worked at United Parcel Service (UPS) for eight years in various roles including director of Marketing, Communications & Public Relations, Americas Region. She was responsible for UPS’ strategy development and execution of all communications programs including advertising, direct marketing, customer communications, event marketing, public and media relations, issues management and employee communications, in Canada, Miami and Latin American countries. Her experience in the public sector includes manager, communication services, in the Region of Peel. 

Webb has an Honours BA from Glendon College at York University and a Diplôme d’étude française (2e degré et 3e degré), Université de Nice, France. She also has completed the Canadian Securities Course.
