Registrar Joanne Duklas takes on a wider role

York Vice-President Students Robert Tiffin has appointed registrar Joanne Duklas to the position of assistant vice-president enrolment management & University registrar. 

In her new role, Duklas will provide the overall direction for the offices of Recruitment, Admissions, Communications & Client Services and Registrar & Student Financial Services. She will oversee a team of more than 100 staff.

"Joanne has a strong background in enrolment management and I am confident that she will provide strong leadership and support to the University," said Tiffin.

Prior to becoming York’s registrar, Duklas worked in recruitment and admissions with a focus on international recruitment. During her tenure as registrar, she has been an active member of provincial and national organizations. She has served as president of the Ontario University Registrars’ Association and is the incoming president of the Association of Registrars of Colleges & Universities of Canada.

Duklas began her career in the land development industry. For the past 18 years, she has worked in the non-profit postsecondary sector. As a two-time graduate of York, she holds an honours bachelor of arts (’89) and a master of business administration (’99) from the Schulich School of Business. Her career includes extensive exposure to strategic market planning in the local, national and international contexts as a result of increasing leadership roles at the University.
