York University faculty, staff and students can take advantage of a special offer for complimentary tickets to a musical revue playing at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in downtown Toronto. The tickets, which are for performances that take place tonight through to the end of the week, are being offered for performances of Virtuosity.
Created by and featuring the two-time Tony Award nominee Vivian Reed (Bubbling Brown Sugar and Showboat), Virtuosity celebrates its world premiere in Toronto with a six-week engagement. Called “a tour de force” by The New York Times and a “one woman five-alarm blaze” by Newsday, Virtuosity is a passionate action-packed song and dance revue. Six ethnically diverse artists perform both original and well-known material in the two-hour show. Each song or combination of songs will be a vignette unto itself with a story inside. The cast, backed by a live band, perform both original and well-known material from such greats as Billie Holiday, the lsley Brothers, Smokey Robinson – and even Guiseppe Verdi.
This special offer is being extended to the York community by the producers of Virtuosity. Anyone interested can choose from the following performances:
- Tonight, at 8pm
- Thursday, Jan. 21, at 8pm
- Friday, Jan. 22, at 8pm
- Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2pm
- Saturday, Jan. 23, at 8pm
Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
