United Way Campaign goes green with a new online pledge program

This year’s United Way Campaign will include implementation of the UW@work online pledge program.

Early this week, all staff and faculty at York University who have e-mail accounts will receive a personal and secure e-mail that invites them to make their donation online.

The e-mail pledge request replaces the paper pledge packages that were traditionally sent through internal mail. The online system offers a variety of options for payment, including regular payroll deductions and credit card payments, along with the option to redirect a donation to a preferred charity or agency.

York’s goal for the 2009 United Way Campaign is to raise $200,000, which will go towards supporting the important work of the United Way and its 200 health and social service agencies. "This year, perhaps more than ever, the need is greater," says Yvette Munro, York’s 2009 United Way Employee Campaign chair. "I encourage all York staff and faculty to consider making a donation."

Those who prefer to complete a paper pledge should contact Munro by e-mail at ymunro@yorku.ca or by telephone at ext. 77529.
