Clothing Swap benefits York’s United Way Campaign

On Thursday, Nov. 12, the very popular York University Clothing Swap for the United Way returns. Practise sustainable shopping while reducing and recycling. This year’s clothing swap takes place in the Underground in York’s Student Centre from 12 to 2pm. Organizers are asking members of the York community who are interested in participating in the clothing swap, and those who are planning to donate clothing to the event, to register online by visiting the York University Clothing Swap for the United Way Web site.

Then, on the day of the swap, bring clean, modern, gently worn and new items you no longer wear or use to the Undeground between 8 and 9:30am. Clothing will be sorted (tops, pants, dresses, athletic gear, purses, belts).

Return between 12 and 2pm, and for a $5 entrance fee you can try on a variety of outfits. If you love it, it’s yours! The $5 entrance fee will go to the United Way. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

Those interested in volunteering or donating to the clothing swap should send an e-mail to uwswap@yorku.ca. For more information on this event and for the online registration form, visit the York University Clothing Swap for the United Way Web site.
