Jonathon Talbot touched many lives in his 22 years

The flag will be lowered from sunrise today and will remain at half mast until 1 pm tomorrow in honour of Jonathon Talbot, a fourth-year student in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science in York’s Faculty of Health.

Jonathon died on Tuesday, March 10, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto from injuries he sustained as a passenger in a tragic traffic accident. He was just 22 years old.

"Jonathon was in fourth-year kinesiology at York and he was on the York downhill mountain biking team," said his mother, Heather Talbot. "You may have seen him on campus playing Hacky Sack or Frisbee. He was a lifeguard, swim instructor and aquafitness instructor at the YMCA and worked at Sportchek in the Scarborough Town Centre."

Jonathon was born on Nov. 7, 1986. His mother says he touched many lives in his 22 years and will be missed by even more people than the 1,000 who attended his funeral. "He had a happy and rich life, and was a friend to all who met him," she said.

Jonathon leaves his parents Heather and Terry Talbot, his younger sister Emily and his extended family and friends. A private service for Jonathon has taken place. The family requests that donations in Jonathon’s memory be made to the Scarborough YMCA at 416-296-9907 ext. 400 or to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at 416-480-4483.
