York flag lowered to half-mast for Atena Arabsalmany

The University flag will fly at half-mast from today from sunrise to sunset to commemorate the passing of Atena Arabsalmany, a third-year student in York’s Space Engineering Program in the Faculty of Science & Engineering. She was one of two women killed when the car they were riding in collided with another vehicle and burst into flames on Halloween night (see YFile, Nov. 4).

Her funeral will be held today, 11am to 5pm, at the Islamic Iranian Centre of Imam Ali, 120 Bermondsey Rd. in Toronto and later at the York Cemetery Visitation Chapel & Reception Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd. in North York.
