Church and national women’s under-22 hockey team win European Air Canada Cup

Dan Church is coming back to York University with a gold medal.

The York Lions women’s hockey head coach capped his term as head coach of the Canadian women’s under-22 team with a 7-5 victory over Finland in the final of the European Air Canada Cup in Ravensburg, Germany on Sunday.

Overall, Church was 7-0 with the under-22 team, including 4-0 at this tournament. Canada beat Russia, Germany, Sweden and Finalnd, scoring at least seven goals in each game. Canada has won the European Air Canada Cup all six times it has competed in the tournament.

Church also led the team to a 3-0 record in a three-game series against the United States this summer in Lake Placid, NY. Church picked his team at a selection camp at York University.
