York and FAN 590 team up to broadcast Toronto’s university sports

Toronto’s three universities are set to hit the sports radio airwaves.

York University, the University of Toronto, and Ryerson University have partnered with The FAN 590 AM radio to broadcast a weekly, half-hour show focusing on interuniversity sports in Canada’s largest city.

Hosted by award-winning Toronto Star sports reporter David Grossman, “The University Sports Report” will be on the air Sundays at 9am, beginning this weekend. Twenty shows will be featured in 2007-2008 as Grossman tackles the big issues affecting all three universities.

The inaugural show will feature a round-table with three of the university sporting leaders in the city – Patricia Murray, York’s sport & recreation director; Liz Hoffman, U of T director of athletics; and Jean Kennedy, Ryerson’s acting director, interuniversity sports  .

Listeners also can catch the action live on the FAN 590 Web site.
