Thrill The World was started by York dance alumna Ines Markeljevic to unite people globally in the fun and joy of dance. This year, 71 Thrill The World events will take place at the same time in 69 cities in 15 countries on five continents.

Business student Polina Rogozhina, the York Thrill The World dance organizer, expects as many as 200 people to take part at York on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The day begins at 10am in dance studios in Accolade East (rooms 201, 203, 249, 251, 253), where participants spend the day learning how to do the Thriller dance. Instructors make it fun and easy to learn by giving moves funny names like "hip ‘n roar" and "booty bounce". At 6pm, participants perform together – at the same time as all the other participants do around the world. The event ends at 8pm.

Everyone is welcome to participate. Just show up with a zombie costume, bring some Halloween makeup, a change of comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. Those who wish to join in this dancing zombie madness are encouraged to pre-register by e-mailing. Walk-ins will be welcome as well.

Participants can make donations of $10 to support the Sick Kids Foundation.

The event is sponsored by The Printing House, Ltd., and York’s Department of Dance. Thrill The World at York is part of Thrill The World, presented by INESSENS.
