Unstoppable Pride at York

York University is joining the City of Toronto in marking Pride Week 2007. The theme of this year’s celebration is Unstoppable. The colourful and flamboyant Pride Week Festival cannot take place without the participation of thousands of individuals, community groups, businesses, sponsors and partners like you.

In 2006, members of the York community marched in the Pride Parade and Dyke March, built a fabulous float, set up and staffed a booth in the Community Fair and Marketplace, entertained at the Community Café, and volunteered to make Pride Week happen.

Returning for the 27th celebration, members of the York community will once again participate in the Dyke March on Saturday, June 23, and the spectacular Pride Parade on Sunday, June 24.

You can help celebrate Pride at York by coming down to the York University booth in the Community Information area. Located on Church St. between College and Bloor, organizers are hoping to see plenty of York staff, faculty and students. Organizer J. Wallace is also looking for volunteers to help staff the booth. Contact J. Wallace at jwallace@yorku.ca for more information.

Pride is for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities – people who are straight but not narrow are encouraged to come too.
