Right: Constable Davis Ahlowalia

Rommel D’Souza, a close friend of Ahlowalia described his friend as a guiding light and a great humanitarian. "Constable Davis Roy Ahlowalia was one of my closest and most loyal friends that I could always count on. He was not only a friend but a brother and part of my family as I am part of his.

"Some may know Davis for the larger charity events that he spearheaded or was part of, but I know Davis for the little things that he did everyday of his life. Whether it would be breaking up a fight outside a bar (off-duty) or offering a homeless person money, food or simply a conversation, Davis was always there to help," said D’Souza. "The York Region Police motto is ‘Deeds Speak’ and Davis truly lived the motto as his deeds spoke volumes as he touched the lives of so many in such a short life."

A funeral service for Constable Ahlowalia will be held today at 11am, at the St. Mary Immaculate Church, 10295 Yonge St. in Richmond Hill. Ahlowalia’s family has requested donations in his honour be made to Friends of the Poor (Canada) Inc. Donation boxes have been set up at all York Regional Police facilities, including headquarters at 17250 Yonge St., Newmarket.
