International Symposium on Public Sector Management opens tonight

A three-day International Symposium on Public Sector Management beginning today at York focuses on “Efficient Management in the Non-Profit Organizations.”

After a reception tonight the program opens tomorrow at McLaughlin College with York President Emeritus Prof. H. Ian Macdonald chairing a panel discussion about “What is Different About Not-for-Profit Other Than Not for Profit?” Other panels explore such topics as how boards can best contribute to the efficient management of nonprofit organizations, policy reform in Canada and Germany, government privatization to the nonprofit sector, hospital financing in Germany and Canadian health and wellness tourism.

This is the sixth in a series organized by the Centre for Public and Non-Profit Management, Mannheim University, and York’s Schulich School of Business. This symposium is sponsored by Schulich, York’s School of Public Policy & Administration, McLaughlin College and the German Consulate General in Toronto.
