Italian ambassador visits York

The ambassador of Italy to Canada visited York Aug. 23 for a campus tour and discussion about the Italian Program’s plans to increase the number of exchange students between the two countries.

Gabriele Sardo toured Keele campus with Gabriella Colussi-Arthur, associate dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Roberta Sinyor, coordinator of the Italian Program, Faculty of Arts, and met with Faculty of Arts Dean Robert Drummond and Italian Program faculty members.

“It was the first such visit of its kind on the part of an Italian ambassador and we were thrilled that His Excellency Sardo came on an academic, fact-finding mission to York University,” said Colussi-Arthur.

York has an undergraduate program in Italian and plans for a graduate program in Italian linguistics. The University also offers a summer program at the University of Bologna and exchange partners in l’Aquila, Cassino and at the University of Calabria.
