York alumna appointed master of Stong College

Modupe Olaogun (right) has been appointed for a five-year term to the position of master of Stong College, announced Robert Tiffin, York’s vice-president students. Olaogun began her new duties July 1.


Olaogun is a professor in the Department of English in York’s Faculty of Arts where she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in post-colonial and African literatures and drama since 2000. An alumna of York University (PhD ’93), Olaogun earned both her BA and MA degrees in English from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.


Outside of her teaching and research activities, Olaogun is active in the Toronto theatre community as the artistic director of the AfriCan Theater Ensemble which she founded in 1998.


A Fellow of Founders College, Olaogun says that she strongly believes in the College system and looks forward to beginning her term as master.
