Flag lowered for student Brendan (Zack) Ford

Flags were lowered to half mast on Friday to commemorate York University student Brendan Daniel Slattery (Zack) Ford, who died on Tuesday, Jan. 24 of heart failure. Brendan had a heart problem for many years and passed away in hospital.


Born on Dec. 19, 1985, Brendan was an undergraduate English student at York’s Keele campus. He was a member of the Pond Road Residence and the Stong College community. An accomplished artist and a “Trekkie”, Brendan was well-liked among his peers and his classmates have expressed sadness upon learning of his death.


Brendan leaves his parents, Russell and Sheila, and his brother, Damian, and sister, Charlotte. He will be missed by his extended family and his friends, especially Jeff Thomas and Martin Kuhn. He was also the dear friend of Lauren Booker and the Mythology Posse.  A funeral mass was held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Mississauga on Saturday.
