Robert Wai appointed associate dean of Osgoode Hall Law School

Patrick Monahan, dean of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, has announced the appointment of Osgoode Professor Robert Wai as the new associate dean of the law school.

Wai has been a member of faculty since 1998 and has previously served as the director of the York University Centre for Public Law & Public Policy. He has also established himself as one of Canada’s leading trade law scholars, having been recently appointed as a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

Wai completed an MPhil degree in international relations at Oxford University in the UK as a Rhodes Scholar; an LLB degree at the University of British Columbia; and an SJD (doctor of juridical science) degree at Harvard Law School as a Fulbright Scholar, where he wrote his doctoral dissertation on structures of policy argumentation in private international law. His current research focuses on the overlap between public and private international law in areas such as international trade regulation and transnational litigation.

He succeeds Osgoode Professor Janet Walker as associate dean. Walker stepped down as of Jan. 1 to resume her teaching duties.
