York International is hosting the annual Exchange and Study Abroad Fair on Oct. 3, from 10:30am to 3pm, in Central Square and the Bear Pit on the Keele Campus.

The fair gives students a chance to learn about the many different opportunities available to study abroad as part of their York degree.

York Exchanges allow students at York to earn part of their degree credits at a postsecondary institution in another country. There are many different host institutions to choose from – with a good number of them allowing students to study in English. The York International Web site has a full roster of exchange opportunities.

As part of the event, students who have gone on an exchange in the past will be available to share their experiences with those interested in participating in an exchange. York International staff will also be present to answer questions about the opportunities an exchange can provide. There will also be information available on summer study abroad courses for York credit. One of York’s newest exchange partners, the National University of Singapore, will be special guests at this year’s fair.

Work abroad information will also be available for the York International Internship Program, a York-administered program which allows students to work in another country during the summer months, and also for the Japan Exchange and Teaching program, which allows students to teach English in Japan.

The York Exchange and Study Abroad Fair is the perfect chance to start researching the many international experiences available both through York, and other outside organizations. Even if students are thinking of going on exchange in a few years, the fair presents a perfect opportunity to get an early start on planning for these exciting experiences.

Exchange information sessions will be starting shortly, visit the York International Web site for dates and more information about how students can add an international component to their degree at York.
