Anne Marie Maitland

The York community is mourning the loss of Anne Marie Maitland, who passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, July 19. Ms Maitland, the course secretary in the Division of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts, was a dedicated staff member who began her working career at York in 1974. She was presented with the 25-Year Recognition Award in 1999 (see Dec. 8, 1999 issue of the Gazette). Ms Maitland leaves three brothers, a sister and her mother.

Ms. Maitland was a longstanding and valued member of the York community since 1974. She will be sadly missed by her co-workers.

The funeral service is scheduled for 11am on Monday, July 25, at St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Church, 1675 Finch Avenue West, at Sentinel Road. Please note that there is no viewing time. The interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetry located on Jane Street, north of Steeles Avenue. The family has requested that in lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario by calling 416-499-1417.

The flag on the Commons will be lowered Monday in Ms Maitland’s honour.
