The Art Gallery of York University’s final experimental music program of the season will feature a performance by the Toronto-based electroacoustic trio quasiMODAL today at 7pm. The trio includes cellist cheryl o, synthesist/pianist Steven Sauvé and guitarist Michael Keith.

Using acoustic instruments and electronic technologies, quasiMODAL creates live improvised pieces that borrow from all styles and modes of music. Ambient and at times sublime sonicscapes are generated from processed loops, feedback, percussion, children’s toys, voices, and telephone messages, providing the players with an endless array of sounds with which to experiment.

This programme is organized in conjunction with AGYU @ Images Festival: Fiona Banner, Rosa Barba, Nathalie Melikian: Horror, Science Fiction, Porn at the AGYU until June 12. Gallery hours: Monday to Friday, 10am-4 pm, Wednesday, 10am-8pm, Sunday, noon-5pm, Saturday, closed. Admission is free. This program is made possible through the Canada Council for the Arts’ Music in Alternative Spaces Grant.
