Finalists compete in Suncor social responsibility case competition

The Corporate Social Responsibility Society at York’s Schulich School of Business will hold the final of its Case Competition today at 11:30am in the Robert McEwen Auditorium.


Winners of the competition, sponsored by Suncor Energy, will receive a $1,000 cash prize for the best plan of action for Suncor Energy to follow regarding corporate social responsibility issues. Students submitted a written case which was evaluated by Schulich professors and the top three entries will take 15 minutes to present their case to a panel of judges. The panel will consist of three Suncor representatives from the company’s office in Calgary and David Wheeler, director of the Business & Sustainability Program at Schulich. Second and third place prizes of $500 and $300 will also be awarded.


The judges are Sue Lowell, director sustainability strategy, Christine Burton, manager regional consultation, and Karim Zariffa, sustainable development associate.

York community members are welcome to attend the presentations and see the judging of the finalists.
