Basketball Lions extend winning streak

York University Sport teams will take December off for exams and holidays. The track and field team is the only team competing before Christmas. The team will host the annual York Christmas Open at the Toronto Track and Field Centre at York University on Dec. 11.

The Lions basketball squads were the last of the York teams to play before the December break. The men’s basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games with a pair of weekend victories over Laurentian University. Four York Lions players scored in double-digits during Friday’s 80-67 victory over Laurentian. Lions freshman Tut Ruach finished with 23 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Branislav Misovic added 18 points while shooting 50 per cent from behind the arc. In Sunday’s 84-82 win, Jordan Foebel recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Dan Eves, the Lions leading scorer, had a combined 37 points in both weekend games (19 on Friday, 18 on Sunday).
