Edith Cory, the wife of incoming Chancellor Peter Cory

Edith Agnes Cory, the wife of the Honourable Peter deCarteret Cory, York University’s incoming chancellor, passed away on May 30 at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga.


Mrs. Cory is survived by her husband and their three sons, Christopher, Andrew and Robert, and daughters-in-law Brenda, Carol and Muriel. She will be remembered by eight grandchildren.


Visitation will take place at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10 north of the QEW) from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Thursday, June 3. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, June 7, at 3pm at St. Bride’s Anglican Church, 1516 Clarkson Road N., Mississauga.


An award has been established by York University in memory of Mrs. Cory. The Edith Agnes Cory Award will benefit York University students. Details will be forthcoming in the near future.
